Free Pool Cage and Screen Enclosure Maintenance Checklist

How to Use This Checklist

Use this page during a safe ground-level visual check of an existing pool cage, patio enclosure, porch enclosure, or lanai. Mark anything that has changed, photograph visible concerns, and keep notes for an estimate. Do not climb the enclosure or touch electrical, unstable, overhead, or sharp conditions.

Monthly Ground-Level Check

☐ Screen mesh has no new tears, holes, sagging, or loose edges
☐ Spline appears seated in visible frame channels
☐ Accessible screen doors open, close, and latch normally
☐ Handles, hinges, closers, sweeps, and visible door hardware appear secure
☐ No new rust stains, missing fastener heads, or visible loose connections
☐ No obvious peeling coating, exposed aluminum, bending, or separation
☐ Visible gutters and drainage outlets show no obvious overflow or separation
☐ No vegetation or stored object is pressing against the enclosure

After Severe Weather

☐ Local officials have indicated that conditions are safe
☐ Wide and close photographs were taken from the ground
☐ New screen and spline damage was documented
☐ Door alignment and latching were checked safely
☐ Debris impact, gutters, fasteners, coating, and visible aluminum were documented
☐ Electrical hazards, fallen trees, sharp metal, or unstable sections were avoided
☐ The correct qualified provider was contacted for work outside screen-enclosure service

Annual Enclosure Review

☐ Mesh and spline condition reviewed across all visible sections
☐ Door operation and hardware reviewed
☐ Visible fasteners, anchors, and connections reviewed
☐ Coating and aluminum conditions reviewed
☐ Gutters and drainage behavior reviewed
☐ Repeated repair areas noted
☐ Current photographs saved for future comparison
☐ Needed service prioritized by safety, active damage, and deterioration

Call the Appropriate Professional When

The enclosure appears unstable, bent, separated, or actively moving
Electrical equipment, power lines, gas, roofing, foundations, or pool equipment are involved
A tree or heavy debris is resting on the enclosure
Work requires climbing, elevated access, drilling, bracing, or structural judgment
Damage is widespread or the correct repair scope is unclear
